Feeling half asleep? Snooze like a dolphin!
It might sound like an impossible task, but dolphins keep half of their brain awake while the other half sleeps!
Imagine being able to sleep through the morning while part of your brain stayed conscious! Clever trick, eh?
For a dolphin, being able to detect sound for days on end might be very important to survive the dangers of the deep.
After 5 whole days of being able to hear and see, the dolphins' reactions were as fresh as when the experiment started!
The scientists, however, were very tired!!!
Luckily our sleep is mostly done in safe places, so we can let all of our brain rest at the same time - if we don't get enough sleep our reactions become slow and inaccurate.
How much sleep do you need? It depends on how old you are, but look here for a rough guide
